Akshat Chaturvedi was only 22 when an earthquake hit Bhuj in 2001. What he saw in the aftermath altered the course of his life, which he has since dedicated to working with the World Bank’s Disaster Risk Management Programme. More recently, he has revived the inspiring stories of survivors like him in a curated book called Resilience in Kutch, Stories of Earthquake Survivors in Bhuj.

When COVID-19 cases touched 90,000 in July in Delhi, doctors converted the Commonwealth Stadium into a 500-bed hospital in a week.

“On 16th July, the link went live at 1:30 p.m. and we tweeted about it everywhere and it blew up. When the link was initially set up, it was to raise Rs. 30,000 until 28 July. But we ended up raising Rs. 5.9 lakh in a matter of 24 hours!”

This product essentially provides nutritious food to disaster struck victims stranded for days with nothing but the weekly supply of food aid to depend on.
