The state cabinet passed the plastic ban proposal on Thursday, which specifically strikes down on the manufacture and sale of these three common plastic items including bags, straws and disposable plastic cutlery like spoons, cups and plates.

At 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Goregaon-based Ryan International School’s 27-seater bus was on its regular route to drop kids home. When the bus arrived near Oberoi Mall, the driver realised that the brakes of the bus had failed.

The campaign has been a raging success in Mumbai where this group of environmentally-conscious citizens from the NGO have collected over 100 tonnes of plastic, electronic and other recyclable waste from housing societies and in turn gifted a whopping 20,000 bags across the city.

Kickstarted on 5th December 2017 with a few friends, independent of the NGO, is the Roti Ghar. It is their attempt at providing a healthy one-time meal to over 100 underprivileged children and women at the dumping ground in Thane, Mumbai every single day.

But between 2:30 - 3 PM, they suddenly spotted a girl who stood on the divider in the middle of the road. She was attempting to commit suicide by jumping in front of a speeding vehicle.

The arduous six-day journey had taken a toll on their shoes and chappals. In a moving gesture, locals, as well as voluntary groups, came forward to donate footwear and foodgrains to these protesting farmers.

The contents of the bag included over Rs 80,000 in cash (fees collected from students), her credit and debit cards, Aadhaar, driving licence, PAN card, car registration documents, two cellphones, house keys and even her locker keys.
