This Punjab Man Is Turning Stubble Waste From Farms Into Eco-Friendly Tiles

As severe air pollution chokes the Delhi NCR region, stubble burning continues on farms across Punjab, Haryana, and other parts of the country. After harvesting paddy, farmers are often in a hurry to clear the field and sow the next crop. To save time, they frequently burn stubble waste, which has become one of the major contributors to air pollution in the Delhi NCR region.

Recently, the Centre issued new rules doubling fines for stubble burning. Under these rules, farmers are required to pay fines ranging from Rs 5,000 to Rs 30,000 per incident, depending on their land size.

Amid heated debates and discussions on preventing stubble burning, Punjab-based Parminder Singh is on a mission to help farmers earn instead of burn.

Even as people mocked him, he experimented with stubble waste in his garage for eight long years. His solution to stubble burning is an eco-friendly alternative: heat-and-cold insulating tiles that are waterproof, fireproof, and made entirely from stubble waste.

Parminder says, “In our startup, we make drop-down ceiling tiles from stubble waste. The main goal is to set up production plants in Punjab that use stubble as raw material, creating a solution to prevent stubble burning.”

With his innovative approach, Parminder is now ready to bring his solution to the common man, turning a problem into an opportunity for sustainability and economic growth.
