This disciplined approach isn’t limited to Meghalaya. States like Mizoram, and Assam also boast a strong culture of road etiquette, with minimal honking and virtually no road rage.

In fact, Aizawl in Mizoram has earned the title of the ‘Silent City’ for its calm roads, where honking is nearly non-existent, hand signals replace traffic lights, and lane discipline is strictly followed. Drivers communicate with courteous gestures, creating a peaceful and orderly driving experience—something many cities across India could learn from.
