Did you know Vijay Sethupathi worked as a salesman before he became a superstar?
Having always dreamed of being an actor Vijay started auditioning at 16 but faced repeated rejection.
During his struggling days, he worked as a salesman, cashier, and phone booth operator to support his family.
Using the earnings from these odd jobs, he completed his graduation in Bachelor of Commerce and then worked as an accountant in Dubai
for 3 years.
Unhappy with his job, he returned to India and joined a theatre group as an accountant.
There, he observed the nuances of acting from close quarters, perfecting his own craft.
After a few small appearances as a background actor, Vijay finally landed his first lead role in Thenmerku Paruvakaatru at the age of 32!
The film went on to win 3 national film awards!
Today, Vijay has become a household name across India because of his simplicity and sheer talent!
His moniker ‘Makkal Selvan’, which means ‘People’s Treasure’, speaks volumes about the respect his massive fanbase has for him.
