Malarikkal magic is blooming again — and as captured beautifully by Abhideep Pradeep [@mallu_nomad ], it’s nothing short of a dream.
Pink petals, misty mornings, and boat rides through floral dreams — Kerala’s most Instagrammable secret is waking up.
Every year, the quiet backwaters of Malarikkal in Kottayam transform into a surreal sea of pink, thanks to the blooming of thousands of water lilies.
Tucked away in Kottayam, Malarikkal’s backwaters transform each year into a surreal sea of pink as thousands of water lilies bloom — a seasonal spectacle known locally as Malarikkal Aambal Vasantham (The Water Lily Spring).
Photographers, travellers, and romantics flock here for this ethereal experience.
But here’s the catch — the real spectacle hasn’t fully arrived yet.
Due to early monsoon rains, the first bloom was washed away. What’s blooming now is just a teaser.
The grand bloom — when both sides of the 1.5 km stretch of the J Block 9000 fields explode in pink — is expected to peak by mid-July this year.
So if you’re planning a visit, hold off for now. July 15 onwards is your best bet.
