In the aftermath of Myanmar’s devastating 7.7-magnitude earthquake on March 28, which claimed over 3,600 lives, the Indian Army has stepped up with cutting-edge technology to aid in search and rescue operations.
For the first time ever, the Army has deployed robotic mules — four-legged machines known as SAR Robo Mules — designed to walk through debris-strewn, unstable terrain where humans can’t safely go.
These robotic assistants are helping assess structural damage, carry critical equipment, and support teams on the ground.
Alongside them, nano drones equipped with thermal imaging are flying into collapsed buildings, scanning for heat signatures and providing rescuers with live visuals to help locate survivors faster.
Part of Operation Brahma, this mission goes beyond humanitarian aid — it’s a powerful example of how India is using technology with heart, speed, and precision to stand by its neighbours in times of crisis.
