Eco-friendly headphones from bamboo?
IITian Aakansh Chaturvedi merged traditional Indian craftsmanship with sustainability to create ‘Bambass’- headphones made from bamboo that are 70% biodegradable!
It took 3 months for him to sketch, design and produce his first prototype!
However, Aakansh faced certain challenges.
Like how to-
prevent the bamboo from snapping
protect the headphones from termites.
But he found innovative solutions to his problems for instance a screw mechanism for size adjustment.
Interestingly, it is coiled bamboo stripes that effectively insulate sound in ‘Bambass’.
Aakansh has also used braided bamboo to generate thousands of distinct designs making each headphone look unique.
We love how Aakansh has not just paid homage to bamboo craftsmanship,
but also shown the way to create eco-friendly accessories.
