Dhruv Jurel's mother once pawned jewellery to buy a cricket kit for him.
23-year-old Dhruv, who recently made his Test debut in India, has charted a long, inspiring journey.
Born in Agra, Dhruv comes from a humble background.
His father, Nem Singh Jurel, was a Kargil war veteran and wanted Dhruv to join the armed forces.
However, the young boy dreamed of a cricket career.
When his father couldn’t afford an expensive kit bag, his mother decided to sell her gold chain to realise her son’s dreams.
Dhruv repaid his parent’s sacrifices by scoring runs in spades, gradually rising through the cricketing ranks.
He became the vice-captain of the Indian team in the U-19 world cup and was then picked up by Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2022.
Grabbing the spotlight with his explosive batting and wicket-keeping skills,
Dhruv has finally bagged the coveted India cap.
