For 5 years, 69-YO Ellis from the Netherlands has been cleaning Kashmir’s Dal Lake—alone, in her shikara, pulling out plastic every day.

Locals call her the ‘Mother of Dal’ for caring more than many do.

“Dal Lake gave me peace when I needed it. Now it’s my turn to give back,” she says. Isn’t it time we did our bit too?
