A Bhubaneswar Man’s Simple Solution for Blackouts & Climate Change

The people of Bhubaneswar and the east coast of India suffer extreme storms every year due to cyclonic activity over the Bay of Bengal. Severe rainfall and winds lead to floods, power outages, and infrastructure damage. In 2019, Cyclone Fani caused a power blackout for days in Bhubaneswar.

That’s when Sibanand Sahoo, a 35-year-old who runs an electrical shop, decided to pivot to solar power and take his home completely off the grid. This is how he did it.
