The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) will conduct the Personality Test (PT) interviews from February 17-April 2, 2020, at the UPSC Office located in New Delhi. 

The interviews will be conducted for candidates who have been shortlisted for this stage, post the UPSC Civil Services Mains 2019. The Mains were held from 20th September to 29th September 2019. 

In the interview, the candidates will be selected for Indian Administrative Service, Indian Foreign Service, Indian Police Service and other Central Services (Group ‘A’ and Group ‘B’).

What is the Personality Test?

The personality test is the final round of the UPSC Civil Services examination, and lasts for about 45 minutes to one hour depending on the nature of questions and candidates. 

The crucial round carries 275 marks and judges the candidate's personality, quality, ability and suitability for the job.

Documents to Carry At the Time of Interview

  1. Detailed Application Form
  2. Original certificates to prove age, educational qualifications, and additionally, caste, and disability.
  3. Two recent self-attested passport size photos
  4. Printout of the e-summon letter
  5. NOC from the department (if you’re a government employee)

Things to Note 

  1. UPSC will not issue physical summon letters. The Commission has made available e-Summon letters that can be downloaded from here. If you are unable to download the letter, contact office of the Commission (011-23098543 / 23385271 / 23381125 / 23098591)
  2. Change in the date and time of PT will not be entertained 
  3. All the candidates, who qualified for the Personality Tests (Interviews), are required to opt-in/opt-out for publically making available their scores under the Public Disclosure Scheme.
  4. The candidates are advised to reach the venue well in time so that their entry inside can be ensured smoothly after observing the necessary protocol. 
  5. Entry into the examination venue is closed 10 minutes before the commencement of the examination session.
  6. Candidates opting for Indian Language or English medium for the written part of the Civil Services (Main) Examination may choose either the same Indian Language or English or Hindi as the medium for the interview.
