Oxford University to Have Modules on Indian Independence and Mahatma Gandhi!

In a move to bring more inclusiveness and to broaden the curriculum significantly, Oxford University has announced the introduction of compulsory modules covering Indian history for their undergraduate history students.

The prestigious UK university is introducing courses on Indian, Asian and Middle Eastern affairs to bring about more colour to the overall course.

Starting this fall semester, the university, in an attempt to introduce students to non-British and non-European histories, will include a vast variety of topics including the Indian Independence struggle and the Civil Rights Movement of the 1960s, US, reports IndiaTimes.

The inclusive move from the university to introduce the histories, movements and political systems of not just the global "West" comes at what many are viewing as a crucial time in global politics.

Other universities, including but not limited to, Leeds University and Cambridge University are progressing towards reordering the way colonial histories are taught.
