At Bhubaneswar's Nandankanan Zoo, white tigress Rupa has given birth to four cubs, marking another remarkable achievement in the zoo’s celebrated tiger breeding programme!
The conservation efforts at Nandankanan are spearheaded by Dr Manoj V Nair, an Indian Forest Service (IFS) officer and the Director of Nandankanan Zoological Park.
Under his leadership, the zoo has excelled in breeding programmes and conservation initiatives, making a lasting impact on wildlife preservation.
Nandankanan proudly holds the distinction of being the world’s first zoo to successfully breed white tigers, a legacy that began in 1980. Since then, it has remained steadfast in its mission to conserve this rare and majestic genetic variant, ensuring the survival of the white tiger lineage for future generations.
