When the monsoon remembers where it belongs The rains don’t arrive with thunder in the Chorla Ghats; they arrive gently, like a long-lost friend slipping back into familiar arms. In this part of Goa, it’s not a downpour. It’s a soaking embrace.

A trail where the forest walks with you There’s a narrow path, slick with rain, framed by wild ferns and moss-draped rocks. You don’t walk it, you follow it, slowly, towards a secret green spot. And with every turn, the forest begins to feel more like home.
Cottages grown, not built Far away from the typical Goa that you’ve known for clubs and parties, perched atop Lasni Temb, sits Wildernest — a cluster of cottages tucked into the hillside.
Where mornings feel like meditation You wake up to the sound of the forest stretching awake — birds calling across the valley, leaves rustling with the breeze, and a gentle drizzle tapping on your roof.
A pool that blurs the sky and the soul The infinity pool seamlessly blends into the surrounding valley. The edge disappears into mist. You slip in, let your body float, and for once, your mind follows.
Flavours born in fire and rain At Randhan, the restaurant is tucked into the forest. There is no pizza, no pasta. Instead, flavours born in these hills like Crab Xacuti, Khatkatem, and Prawn Dangar are to be savoured.
Stillness with a view There are quiet spots tucked all around Wildernest — a lone bench by the fish pond, a watchtower overlooking the canopy, a hammock that sways to the rhythm of the wind.
Where the bar serves stories At Cloud 9, the garden bar the bartender pours you local cashew feni or forest wine and shares jungle lore passed down through generations.
How to reach Wildernest is about 90 minutes from Panaji, in the Chorla Ghats. The drive is scenic with winding roads, forests, and mist.
How to reach Your nearest airport is Goa Dabolim (70 km), and the nearest railway stations are Thivim, Kulem, or Vasco. However, pre-booked cabs are the easiest way to reach.
Best time to visit Wildernest, though beautiful throughout the year, is best enjoyed in the monsoon months, June to September, which are purely magical. October to February is cooler, clearer, and perfect for hikes and stargazing.
So, now, when you visit Goa, maybe ditch the usual spots and let yourself immerse in an experience that stays with your soul.
