After giving birth to her daughter in 2020, Gayathri Kanumuri found herself unprepared for the challenges of breastfeeding.

Initially believing it would come naturally, she faced anxiety over whether her baby was getting enough milk.

The pressure from family and friends, who suggested her milk supply was insufficient, deeply affected her confidence as a new mother. Gayathri points out that new mothers, like herself, are often blamed for not producing enough milk, which only adds to their emotional burden.

Inspired by her experiences, the former software developer launched ‘NariCare’ in 2022 to provide accessible support for mothers.

The startup offers a range of services, including one-on-one consultations with certified lactation consultants and postpartum nutrition guidance.

A key feature of NariCare is its dedicated WhatsApp support group, where mothers can ask questions and receive timely responses from lactation experts. This continuous support fosters a sense of community and empowers mothers with reliable guidance whenever they need it.

“This initiative fosters a sense of community and ensures mothers have access to reliable information whenever needed,” says Gayathri.

So far, she has helped over 400 mothers in Bengaluru, Australia, the USA, and Canada, helping them navigate the complexities of breastfeeding with confidence.

“Knowing that you have played a role in helping a mother through the vulnerable postpartum period brings me immense joy and fulfilment as I have gone through the same guilt as a new mom myself,” she adds.
