Summer can be tough on pets! The humidity can lead to dehydration, heatstroke, and burnt paws. With a little care, you can keep your furry friends happy and safe. Here’s how.

1) Keep them hydrated Water is essential! Always ensure your pet has access to fresh water. Place bowls around your home and add ice cubes for an extra chill. Wet food can also help with hydration.

2) Avoid midday walks Walk your pet early in the morning or later in the evening when it’s cooler. Overheated pets can suffer from heat exhaustion, so time their outings wisely.

3) Never leave them in a parked car Even minutes inside a parked car can be deadly for pets. Temperatures rise rapidly, causing heatstroke. If you're stepping out, always take them with you or leave them in a safe space.

4) Create a cool resting spot Set up a shaded, well-ventilated area with a cooling mat, damp towel, or a fan. You can even freeze a water bottle, wrap it in a cloth, and place it near them for extra relief!

5) Protect Their paws Hot pavements can burn your pet’s paws. Walk them on grass or dirt paths, and use protective pet booties. Place your hand on the pavement, if it’s hot for you, it’s hot for them!

6) Watch for signs of heatstroke Heavy panting, drooling, lethargy, or vomiting? Your pet may be overheating! Move them to a cool place, offer water, and dampen fur with cool water. Seek a vet if symptoms persist.
