There are an overwhelming number of stray dogs in India and this athlete is ensuring that they find a home by encouraging people to adopt instead of buying expensive breed dogs.

According to their website, Braj Animal Care provides more than 25,000 meals and medical treatment for about 500 animals every month. They also have a programme which focuses on providing a clean haven, healthy food and medical treatment for cows in Vrindavan.

The initiative takes care of adoption cases of strays and abandoned animals, while also conducting feeding drives every day and taking care of ambulances, surgery and medical needs of stray animals who are hurt and injured.

Bharti Bhanushali has taken the onus of hundreds of stray dogs and carries out rescue operations for them along with rehabilitation in a centre in Chhattisgarh.
