At 62, Usha Shrotiya embarked on a remarkable journey by transforming her traditional laddoo recipes into a food startup.

After decades of prioritising family responsibilities over personal ambitions, she finally found an opportunity to pursue her passion for entrepreneurship.

With her food startup, ‘Mama Nourish’, she is striving to save legacy laddoo recipes by giving them a modern twist.

It took Usha at least 80 failed attempts before coming to the perfect composition and structure to make laddoo bars that can be carried easily, unlike their traditional counterpart.

Her innovation not only acted as a bridge between generations but also became a shared endeavour with her son Yash, who was inspired by his mother’s tenacity and out-of-the-box thinking.

Usha runs the startup along with her son Yash and his friend Kunal Goel.

Currently, the trio offers a wide range of laddoo bars made using millets, fenugreek, dry fruits, ginger, and Kamarkas seeds.

Within months of its launch, the startup began catering to over 150 major corporations like Google, Meta (Facebook), Netflix, IKEA, and Axis Bank.

Freed from earlier life constraints, the 65-year-old today joyously embraces this chapter of her life, proving there are no age limits to pursuing one’s dreams.

“Now that my children are settled, I have all the time to myself. Sometimes, people ask me why I need to work at this age. But there is no expiry date to achieving your dreams. I feel so confident now,” says Usha.
