This 24-YO Sold His Home to Build a Sanctuary for 300+ Injured Animals

Sai Vignesh, a 24-year-old from Chennai, built Almighty Animal Care Trust, a sanctuary for injured animals, fulfilling his grandfather’s wish. But his journey wasn’t easy.

His sanctuary shelters over 300 rescued animals, including disabled dogs, injured cattle, goats, pigs, and abandoned horses, giving them a safe space to heal.

Sai also fights for animal rights, reports abuse cases, and conducts police sensitisation seminars on animal cruelty laws.

His love for animals began in childhood. After losing his pet dog to cancer, his grandfather encouraged him to care for stray animals.

But how did he do it?

At 15, Sai started feeding and rescuing stray animals in his neighbourhood. His backyard soon became a shelter for injured animals.

His grandfather, his biggest supporter, gave him Rs 30,000 per month for the animals. After his passing, Sai was determined to honour his legacy.

“I found how they were beaten up and harassed, both physically and sexually, and were left to fend for themselves. This made me realise that I wanted to make a safe haven for animals,” he says.

Facing financial struggles, Sai convinced his parents to sell their ancestral home. The funds helped him buy land near Poondi Reservoir.

With public donations and support, Sai built Almighty Animal Care Trust in 2019, now home to hundreds of rescued animals.

Despite financial challenges, Sai dedicates his web developer income to the sanctuary and relies on donations for daily expenses of Rs 18,000.

Sai dreams of expanding his sanctuary and building a quarantine centre. You can support his mission by volunteering or donating.  Contact: 89393 20846.
