Imagine receiving freshly harvested farm produce and enjoying chemical-free vegetables at home — without worrying about the hassle of maintaining a farm.

Making this possible are cousins Mantaj Sidhu and Baljit Singh Gill. Their startup, ‘Gill Organics’, allows urban families to temporarily own a patch of land where organic food is grown.

At their farm in Patiala district, families can visit their designated plots for a hands-on harvesting experience, fostering a connection with nature and chemical-free food.

To maintain organic standards and natural pest control, the farm employs sustainable methods such as cow dung, vermicompost, UV lights, sticky traps, and mulching with stubble.

Mantaj and Baljit provide a traceable farming experience, allowing families to monitor and collect produce from their temporarily owned plots, even offering home delivery for convenience.

Families pay between Rs 30,000 and Rs 35,000 for a six-month subscription, gaining access to 18 types of organically grown vegetables like spinach, cauliflower, bottle gourd, and more.

Currently operating in Patiala, Ludhiana, and Chandigarh, Gill Organics is now planning to expand due to high demand and a growing waiting list of interested families.

To bring this unique farm concept to life, Mantaj left his prestigious job at Google in Ireland — a decision met with scepticism from family and friends. But he refused to be defined by labels.

“Moving ad revenue numbers for big companies doesn’t give the satisfaction I feel when someone appreciates our organic vegetables. Knowing they are sourcing vegetables for their cancer-ridden parents or their pregnant wives is truly rewarding,” he says.
