When Bengaluru mum Shruti Jha saw her child spending weekends in malls, she felt something was missing — real-world curiosity, fresh air, and time to simply explore.
That thought stayed with her. Over time, she began shaping it into something real. In December 2024, she started Green Panther, a nature club for families in Pune.
Run by Shruti, Subodh Jha, and Arun Kaulige, Green Panther is a self-funded club where kids aged 3 to 10—and their parents—explore the outdoors through stories, art, and walks.
Every weekend, 50 children and their parents meet at places like ARAI Tekdi or Empress Garden to spot birds, sketch leaves, or simply listen to stories.
On 11 June 2025, to mark the International Day of Play, they hosted ‘Tiny Trails’ — a nature walk and art session for 4 to 8-year-olds, complete with storytelling and fun.
As the idea caught on, the team grew bolder. Monthly overnight treks began, where families camp under the stars, often joined by experts who guide them through nature.
Some sessions are held in schools too, where over 100 children at a time experience nature up close, with trails, touchables, and stories that stay long after.
Shruti’s own daughter once said, “Let’s go camping, Mamma,” for her birthday. That moment reminded her—this wasn’t just work. It was a new way of growing up.
For kids growing up in cities, nature shouldn't be a once-in-a-while school trip. Green Panther is making sure it's part of their every weekend—and their childhood.
