After battling cancer, Laveena Jain founded ‘Laveena’s Tripti Foods’, turning her culinary passion into a successful business selling homemade food products.
The 56-year-old cancer survivor and her husband faced financial turmoil after both were diagnosed with cancer in 2010. This led to the halt of their private transport business.
They struggled to manage household expenses, school fees for their children, and medical costs, even facing pressure to sell their home as a potential solution.
But for Laveena, selling their home felt like a defeat — something that was contrary to the perseverance she wanted to model for her children, who were just 14 and 12 at the time.
Determined to fight the odds, Laveena decided to leverage her cooking skills and launched her food business in 2011 with an initial investment of just Rs 1,500.
Her initial products included lemon squash and pickles, which she marketed through local kitty parties. Her products were met with enthusiasm, and demand quickly grew.
Today, her business offers 60 to 70 varieties of products and has expanded beyond Meerut to cities like Moradabad, Ghaziabad, and Noida — including online sales.
“On average, we get 300 orders a month. Our annual sales are Rs 39 lakh. The profits from the business have helped us clear loans of Rs 15 lakh,” shares Laveen’s son, Kinshuk.
Through her journey, Laveena emphasises the importance of courage and perseverance in overcoming life’s toughest challenges.
“I do not think of myself as a beacon of hope and inspiration, but through my example, I want to show that one should not be bogged down in any circumstance and lose courage, come what may,” she says.
