What You Can Do During India-Pakistan Tensions: A Responsible Citizen’s Guide
9 May 2025
1. Silence Is Security: Don't Share Sensitive InformationSharing troop movements, leaked documents, or even casual speculation on social media can endanger lives. Real-time updates aren’t patriotism—they’re a security risk. If you see sensitive info, don't share it—lives depend on it.
2. Break the Chain of Fake NewsMisinformation spreads faster than truth. Before forwarding that "urgent" news or viral video, ask: Is this from a verified source?Fake news creates panic and divert resources -- don't be its carrier.Report suspicious content to PIB Fact Check:+91 8799711259 | socialmedia@pib.gov.in
3. Avoid Panic BuyingStockpiling essentials "just in case" triggers artificial shortages. Fuel, medicines, and food must reach those who need them most—hospitals, security personnel, and vulnerable communities. Act with empathy, not fear.
4. Reject Hate, Protect UnityTerrorism thrives on division. Reject hate speech, support vulnerable communities, and remember: India’s strength lies in unity and solidarity—don’t let fear erode it.
6. Prepare, Don’t Panic– Follow mock drills seriously (blackout protocols, emergency exits).– Learn basic first aid—CPR, bleeding control– Prepare an emergency kit and backups of important documents and emergency contacts
7. Mental Resilience MattersLimit doomscrolling. Anxiety is contagious; balance awareness with self-care. Talk to children/elders about safety without stoking fear. Stay alert. Stay kind. Stay India.
