What You Can Do During India-Pakistan Tensions: A Responsible  Citizen’s Guide

9 May 2025

1. Silence Is Security: Don't Share Sensitive Information Sharing troop movements, leaked documents, or even casual speculation on social media can endanger lives.  Real-time updates aren’t patriotism—they’re a security risk. If you see sensitive info, don't share it—lives depend on it.

2. Break the Chain of Fake News Misinformation spreads faster than truth. Before forwarding that "urgent" news or viral video, ask: Is this from a verified source?  Fake news creates panic and divert resources -- don't be its carrier. Report suspicious content to PIB Fact Check: +91 8799711259 |  socialmedia@pib.gov.in

3. Avoid Panic Buying Stockpiling essentials "just in case" triggers artificial shortages.  Fuel, medicines, and food must reach those who need them most—hospitals, security personnel, and vulnerable communities. Act with empathy, not fear.

4. Reject Hate, Protect Unity Terrorism thrives on division. Reject hate speech, support vulnerable communities, and remember: India’s strength lies in unity and solidarity—don’t let fear erode it.

6. Prepare, Don’t Panic Follow mock drills seriously (blackout protocols, emergency exits). Learn basic first aid—CPR, bleeding control Prepare an emergency kit and backups of important documents and emergency contacts

7. Mental Resilience Matters Limit doomscrolling. Anxiety is contagious; balance awareness with self-care.  Talk to children/elders about safety without stoking fear.  Stay alert. Stay kind. Stay India.
