In preparation for Maha Kumbh 2025, dense forests have been developed at multiple locations in Prayagraj to provide clean air and a healthy environment for millions of visitors.
Two years ago, Prayagraj Municipal Corporation Commissioner, Chandra Mohan Garg, took charge of eliminating the city's dump yards and legacy waste.
To achieve this, they adopted the Japanese Miyawaki technique and began tree plantation at 10 strategically chosen locations.
In the Naini Industrial Area, the largest tree plantation effort saw 1.2 lakh plants of 63 species, while 27,000 plants of 27 species were planted at the city’s biggest garbage dump yard.
This initiative not only eliminates industrial waste but also reduces dust, dirt, and stench, significantly improving the city's air quality.
The Ministry of Culture has announced that in just two years, the Prayagraj Municipal Corporation has established several 'Oxygen Banks' across the city.
