One Man’s Clever Idea Stopped 1000 Kg of Waste From Entering Ghaziabad’s River in Just 60 Days!

16 June 2025

Meet Mayank Chaudhary from Ghaziabad. Through his youth network, he’s spent over a decade working on environmental conservation and the Swachh Bharat Mission.

Mayank and his team run three fodder vans in Ghaziabad that collect food waste from homes daily—feeding over 2000 cattle across the city.

The Hindon River is one of Delhi-NCR’s most crucial water bodies. It serves as a vital link between the Ganga and Yamuna rivers, and supports the ecology of the entire region.

When Mayank and his team witnessed the growing pollution and deteriorating health of this river, they decided they could no longer stand by.

On World Water Day 2025, they launched a social media campaign to spread awareness about the Hindon’s worsening condition and to inspire local residents to join the effort to reduce pollution in the river.

The team visited riverbanks, urged locals to stop dumping waste, and led by example—cleaning the ghats and sending the waste for recycling.

Since the launch of their campaign, more than 100 local residents have joined the movement through social media. Together, they have prevented over 1000 kilograms of waste from entering the Hindon River.

If you live in Ghaziabad, Noida, or Greater Noida, you can be part of this mission too. Join Mayank and his team in giving the Hindon River a new lease on life—because change begins with the people who care enough to act.
