He sold golgappas to keep things running at home — and to make sure he could still afford his education.

His father, a retired peon, and his mother, a homemaker, could only afford so much — but they stood by him through every step.

Ramdas finished school, completed his BA through correspondence, and studied late into the night after work.

To build a stable future, he enrolled in an ITI course in Tirora to become a pump operator-cum-mechanic.

When ISRO announced trainee vacancies in 2023, Ramdas applied, cleared the written test in Nagpur, and was shortlisted.

In August 2024, he travelled to Sriharikota for a skill test — and by May 2025, he officially joined ISRO as a technician.

“Every obstacle was a stepping stone. My family’s support and my dream of working with ISRO kept me going,” he says.

Today, Ramdas works at ISRO’s Sriharikota Space Centre, operating and maintaining systems that support India’s space missions.
