Once Called ‘Crazy’ For His Idea, This Jaipur Man Now Earns Crores From Cow Dung

16 April 2025

In 2014, Bhim Raj Sharma heard about paper being made from elephant dung. That’s when he had a thought: Why not cow dung?

But when he shared his idea, everyone laughed at him. Friends and relatives refused to lend him money.

Sharma didn’t give up. He took a big risk—used his daughter’s wedding savings to start his business! With ₹30 lakh, he set up ‘Gaukriti’ in 2017.

The first sheet of paper was uneven, crumbly, and weak. But instead of quitting, he spent six months perfecting the process.

Finally, he cracked the formula! The paper—made from cow dung, urine, and cotton waste — was strong, smooth, and eco-friendly.

Now, he sells 3,000+ sheets of paper every day.  His products include: Diaries, Boxes, Pencils & Decorative items.

From Jaipur to the USA & Australia. Sharma’s business has grown beyond India, promoting sustainable alternatives to wood-based paper.

Today, Bhim Raj Sharma’s company has crossed ₹1 crore turnover. Once ridiculed—now revolutionising the paper industry.
