In a groundbreaking achievement, Manvi Madhu Kashyap, Ronit Jha, and Bunty Kumar became Bihar's inaugural transgender sub-inspectors.

They received their appointment letters from Chief Minister Nitish Kumar at a ceremony in Patna’s Bapu Auditorium, alongside 1,239 new recruits.

Manvi, a trans woman, and Ronit and Bunty, both trans men, represent a significant step toward inclusivity within law enforcement.

This milestone comes three years after the Patna High Court directed the Bihar Government to include transgender individuals in police recruitment.

Despite five seats reserved for transgender candidates, only Manvi, Ronit, and Bunty qualified through the Bihar Police Subordinate Services Commission process.

The Bihar Government has committed to appointing one sub-inspector and four constables from the transgender category in every district.

This initiative marks a pivotal advancement in providing opportunities for the transgender community in public service after a long struggle.

The journeys of Manvi, Ronit, and Bunty inspire hope for a more diverse and equitable future within the police force.
